Merger

On Tuesday December 9th 2008, history was made when two charities – The Child Development Centre and The Springboard Project Limited – merged to form Hong Kong’s first special educational needs institution to offer a continuum of services, for individuals from 0 to 21 years of age.

The Merger has:

• Provided a continuum of services from aged 0-21
•  Reduced duplication of operational structure
•  Enhanced funding opportunities
•  Achieved economy of scale
•  Provided a wider range of services for children
•  Enabled future expansion of the current provisions
•  Created more opportunities for further professional development
•  Built a support structure which would benefit both organisations

The intention is to create greater synergies and efficiencies, so that the limited funding and resources can be better used to develop programmes and services that can better support the children and their families.
